At Stepping Stone Ranch, if you have the requisite riding skills, you can lease a horse and have access to that horse to ride at your leisure.  There are many options available, but generally the lease involves the payment of all or a portion of the expenses involved in the care of the horse in exchange for the use of the horse for a specified period of time.  These expenses usually involve the cost of boarding, farrier and routine veterinary expenses.  Leasing is a good way to see if you or your child are ready for horse ownership, without the added expense and responsibility of actually purchasing a horse.  In addition, if you determine that you are not interested in horses anymore, you don't have to worry about selling your horse and the expenses of keeping him until you get him sold.  You simply give your notice to the owner, and you are done with your obligations.
